MOULDING
Mouldings are precise prints of the models and are the foundation for most types of castings. In order to obtain the best results, Vera Spaeth adapts the moulding technique on the initial material, the end material, and the number of reproductions. She produces mouldings for objects of any size and any surface detail. The mouldings are reusable and are the property of the customer.
CREATION OF MODELS
Based on her clients’ ideas, sketches or images, Vera Spaeth offers modelling or construction of small and large format models for which she uses plastilline, clay or polystyrene.
CASTING
Vera Spaeth realises casting of bronze, aluminium, or brass sculptures in collaboration with local foundries. Possible techniques are lost wax techniques, direct casting (flammable models) or sand casting. The choice of technique is based on the surface quality of the casting.
LOST WAX CASTING MODELS
The mould enables producing single or multiple wax replicas of the original sculpture. Vera Spaeth creates the wax models with great attention to detail, respecting the original model. On these wax replicas, a system of wax tubes (sprues) is attached which creates channels through which the metal can flow. The wax models are then prepared for the next step, the casting.
CHAISING
After removing the sprues and welding together the pieces, the chasing is the last step before patinating. Vera Spaeth carries out the reproduction of the original model with flawless detail in collaboration with the customer.
PATINA / FINISH
The patina gives the sculpture its final finish. Vera Spaeth realises unique patinas in collaboration with a local bronze sculptor, Bruno Altmeyer, a patina specialist. Alternatively, she can apply her painting expertise if a hand painted finish is required.
CONCRETE / PLASTER / RESIN CASTING
Vera Spaeth is specialised in acrylic resin casting. The resin can be laminated or cast, then dyed in the material or lacquered. She also offers casts in polyurethane, plaster, cement or mixed materials which allows for opportunities to play with the materials and create any sculpture her customer desires.
WELDING
Steel, stainless steel, aluminium, bronze construction With TIG welding, arc welding and soldering, Vera Spaeth produces simple structures that are used for the inner stability of large sculptures, for plastering, or simply as a metal sculpture.
ART HANDLING
Setting up and taking down exhibitions Vera Spaeth regularly works with galleries and museums to offer her expertise in metal, resin, and paint. She participates in the setting up of exhibitions and the installation of works of art. This includes the construction of the space as well as the manoeuvring and hanging of sculptures or paintings.
